Editorial Standards

How OpenAid guides are written, checked, dated and corrected, how we use AI, and what the guides are not.

Who writes the guides

OpenAid is written and run by a small company, Logic Lab LLC. Guides carry the company name rather than a personal byline. The company decides what is published and is responsible for every page.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help research and draft guides. We say so on every page, because you should know how what you read was made.

  • Every guide starts from a list of sources: sector standards, official guidance and primary documents.
  • Drafts are checked against those sources before publishing. A claim we cannot trace to a source is cut.
  • A person on our team reads every page before it goes live.
  • We never present AI output as a quote, a real case or a personal story.

Sources

Guides list the sources they rely on. We prefer standards bodies, official funder and government guidance, and primary documents over summaries. Where practice differs between funders or countries, the guide says so rather than picking one.

Dates and reviews

How-to guides, playbooks and topic pages show the date they were last reviewed. We review a page when a rule or standard it relies on changes, when a reader reports a problem, and on a regular cycle for templates and the most-used guides.

Corrections

If something is wrong, out of date or missing, use Report a problem at the foot of any page, or contact us. We fix errors of fact promptly and note significant changes on the page. Please do not send a safeguarding incident report to us: use your organization's reporting channel.

What the guides are not

Guides and templates are general and practical. They are not legal, tax or financial advice, and they do not replace your funder's rules, your agreement or the law where you work. Check those before you rely on a guide, and take professional advice where the stakes are high.

Independence

OpenAid is free, with no advertising, no paywall and no sign-up. No funder or company pays for a guide or sees it before it is published. We do not name funders in worked examples.
