The Practical Check
A request for more time needs a clear decision, not just a new end date typed into a letter. Check the actual agreement, remaining work, cost plan and any other proposed changes. The practice below supplies a fictional clause so you can distinguish what is known from what still needs review. It creates no right to an extension, spending authority or general rule about grant deadlines. This transfer exercise asks whether repairing the report also resolves the underlying change decision. It does not: source checking, cost review, report release and agreement change are separate human responsibilities.
Your Starting Facts
Use the canonical fictional fact sheet linked below, at its October 25, 2026 checkpoint. It is owned by the compliance-tracker guide and shared with the report case. A1 retains November 30 and requires the designated signatory's written agreement for an end-date change. R1 requests January 31 and another delivery location; no written decision or location clause is supplied. F1 supplies 9,000 USD balance, 4,000 USD commitments and 6,000 USD additional nonoverlapping costs. A2 retains the October 30 report deadline but references missing Annex B. No revised reporting dates, new funding or cost reduction are approved. The remaining-work schedule is missing: the November 12 receipt forecast is before the current November 30 end date and does not by itself justify extra time through January 31.
Worked Example
The report writer has removed the invented approval and confirmed-delivery claims. That repair does not complete the decision file. A preparation note keeps November 30 and October 30 as the current dates, labels January 31 and the location change as requested, and shows 9,000 - 4,000 - 6,000 = -1,000 USD. The project owner explains the remaining-work schedule and requested duration; the agreement owner seeks Annex B and missing location terms; finance prepares options for the 1,000 USD gap. Only the designated signatory can supply the written end-date decision required by fictional A1. The authorized submitter separately decides whether the checked report can be released.
