I am pasting raw assessment notes from [SECTOR, PLACE AND GROUPS CONSULTED, e.g. focus groups with farmers in a rural district]. Organize them into a problem tree. Use only what the notes say.
1. Core problem (the trunk). State one specific, real, present problem in general, key wording. Do not write it as a missing solution, a vague concept or an interpretation or judgment. If the notes point to more than one core problem, tell me and build a separate tree for each.
2. Causes (the roots). Write each cause in negative form, one cause per line. List direct causes first, then indirect causes, and keep going until the notes give no further underlying cause. Mark each as direct or indirect. If one effect has several causes, give each its own row and name that effect in the "Causes or is caused by" column. Keep causes apart from symptoms.
3. Effects (the branches). List direct effects first, then longer-term effects. Ask "so what?" and "then what?" of each effect the notes name, and follow only what the notes say. If the notes stop there, do not guess: list any further effect you suspect under "Not supported by the notes."
4. Output a table (one table per tree) with these columns:
Level (core problem, direct cause, indirect cause, direct effect, longer-term effect) | Statement | Causes or is caused by (which other item) | Exact quote from the notes
5. Never invent an item. If you suspect a link that no quote in the notes supports, leave it out of the table and list it under the heading "Not supported by the notes." Do not jump to conclusions about causes.
6. Tell me where different groups in the notes describe the same problem differently.
