Editorial status: draft. Availability to read this page does not change its editorial status or establish external validation. The review scope and unverified items are stated on this page. A review date does not establish clinical, legal, security or field suitability. Check the publisher's current material and the requirements for your task.

Choose Learning for One Work Task

Start with a skill you need to use, not with a certificate or a long list of courses. Write one sentence such as: "I need to make a clear project schedule for a six-month program" or "I need to understand disclosure risk before sharing a dataset."

Then:

  1. Choose the row whose current scope is closest to that skill.
  2. Open the publisher's page and find one specific course, resource or learning path.
  3. Check the current access conditions, time, language, format, prerequisites, assessment and recognition. Do not assume that a platform description applies to every item in its catalog.
  4. Record how you will use the learning in a real work product and who should check that product.

Access, cost, registration, certificates, languages and catalogs can change. The descriptions below are narrow summaries of the publisher pages read on 2026-10-26, not promises that a particular item will remain available or suitable.

Fictional Example

Situation: Sam works for the fictional Riverbend Relief Network and must prepare a map showing possible delivery routes after seasonal flooding. Sam has used spreadsheets but has not worked with OpenStreetMap data.

Selection note:

  • Work task: prepare a draft route map for an internal logistics discussion.
  • Selected item: "Humanitarian Use of OSM Data" on the HOT Learning Center.
  • Why this item: the publisher describes real humanitarian uses of OpenStreetMap data.
  • Access check: Sam still needs to confirm account fields, time, device needs and current terms on the course page.
  • Application: a draft map with source, date, area and known gaps recorded.
  • Human check: the logistics lead checks road assumptions; a local mapping colleague checks place names and route conditions.
  • Open question: the course cannot establish that a road is currently passable.
  • Recheck trigger: new field reports, a changed map-data date or a route decision based on the draft.

The course helps Sam learn a method. It does not validate the route or transfer responsibility for an operational decision.

What This Page Does Not Establish

  • OpenAid did not take or rate the listed learning.
  • A listing does not establish educational quality, accessibility, accreditation, employer recognition or suitability for a particular role.
  • Publisher statements about access or cost can change and may not apply to every catalog item.
  • Health and research learning is not clinical guidance or approval to conduct research.
  • A completed course is not evidence that a work product is accurate. Apply the learning to a real task and use the human check recorded above.
